Welcome Author Skhye Moncrief

Thanks for inviting me over, Mary.

How many authors or aspiring writers blog out there? What do you blog about? This proved a big thorn with me when I slapped my blog up on the internet. Comment here by midnight CST, Nov. 8, 2009 to enter to win a pdf of my short paranormal romance (a Valentine’s tale) SACRIFICIAL HEARTS, http://www.thewildrosepress.com/sacrificial-hearts-p-708.html. I’m curious to see what others envisioned with their infant blogs. Did you have a new slant to attract blog hoppers and readers?

Over the past two years, I blogged quite often before having health issues drive me to the doctor this summer. You can read all about that at Skhye’s Ramblings. But I won’t bore everyone with a rehash of my woes here. :) Instead, I’d like to know WHAT you blog about? I rarely get in there and ramble about my life. Instead, I’ve found subject matter that appeals to a broad spectrum of folks. I blog about reference books. ‘Tis true. I’m dull!!! And I own an enormous personal library that is threatened by destructive forces every hurricane season. My reference library is chuck full of historical, scientific, and unusual sources of information. Some books are academic treasures from all those grad-school courses I bonded with–my baggage. Other books are those bought specifically for research on my time-travel fantasy romance series, TIME GUARDIANS. (Think kilts, druids, fairies, dragons, freemasons, etc.) My favorite reference books are those dealing with the paranormal. One can never have enough paranormal resources to stoke the fire under the steamy cauldron of a stewing tale! My blog has turned into my database to keep a nice list of my personal books on record in case a calamity strikes. And ruined books equates to calamity.

Essentially, I’m blogging about books that could potentially help writers over a hump of writer’s block. Yep. Nobody ever expects the city to throw down a speed bump where one finds them… Why should writer’s block be any different? Because life loves to throw us wee lessons. If you’re curious about anything someone formally educated in geology or bioarchaeology might have to share, swing by Skhye’s Ramblings to check out some of my topics. Each Friday, a guest blogger brings to the table his/her research journey for an available title we can all get our hands on. PLEASE contact me if you’re interested in a feature! And I always have a contest in the works. Otherwise, I blog about my tales…

“Arthur is a masterpiece…” He of the Fiery Sword’s King Arthur ~Diane Mason; The Romance Studio
“The Spell of the Killing Moon offers the best of spine-tingling suspense. The setting is perfect… Moncrief’s ability to wield magic and emotion are without compare. Her words twist together emotions and visuals until you experience this tale as if the trap were set for you. Some lines blend a kind of poetic magic: “Moonlight wove a special kind of magic, a spell so vacillating that a person never knew if reality were anything other than a dream.” Darkness and premonitions and deadly intent fill these pages… a unique blend of mystic Medieval Gothic and romance…and a true blood-curdling thriller. 5 books” ~Snapdragon, LASR
“Intense, original, suspenseful, and dramatic… an unpredictable topsy-turvy romance… the suspense builds with every page in SACRIFICIAL HEARTS. In a world where symbols mean everything, magic is the way…” ~Snapdragon; LASR

    Hi Skhye and Mary!

Thanks so much for allowing us fellow bloggers to tell why it is we blog! For me its about a few things. For one, I am an avid reader and I love to tell others about what books I’ve read and how much I loved, or shudder, hated them!

I’m also an aspring writer who is on the twisting and turning road to publication! As you all well know it can be a very daunting process, not to mention terrifying. So, I also use my blog to help authors promote their work. Many people have no idea how much time, effort and money goes into promoting a new release! Unless your JR WARD or NORA ROBERTS, you have to spend lots of time trying to bring attention to your work. So I like to help authors do that, and in return when my time comes I hope that other bloggers will return the favor!

I have writing tips, favorite books, new releases, various links and other useful things for writers and readers alike! There’s something for everyone! Atleast I like to think so!!!

    Thanks for having me, Ladies!
